Motivated by passionate classroom discussions, Bishop Collective launched in 2013 as the result of two university fashion instructors looking to advocate for stronger ethical industry practices, as well as transparency within the fashion supply chain. Their goal was to educate the community on the importance of slow fashion, while offering unique seasonless pieces that are fashion forward and well constructed.
At Bishop Collective, we provide a highly curated collection of women’s apparel, accessories and lifestyle goods, carefully picked each season from emerging and lesser-known brands who share our values for conscious consumerism. Great attention is paid to material selection, construction and more importantly, the community who helps to bring it all together. While many retailers incorporate a few domestically produced pieces to fill a niche market, Bishop Collective only offers an American-made product assortment, giving us greater control over the manufacturing process. This ensures that our product is lovingly made by skilled adults who are paid livable wages.
The Bishop Collective customer is in tune with the zeitgeist, but does not let it define them. They are educated, confident and strong in their convictions. They prefer quality over quantity, and spend their time and money on experiences first. A strong sense of community values and appreciation for hard work drives them, but they also know how to live it up. When they buy a Bishop piece, they aren’t only buying the fashion garment, but also its story- the story of the designer, the maker and the processes throughout their journey.
